TDP spreading lies on Polavaram, alleges BJP MLC Madhav
Srikakulam: BJP MLC P V N Madhav on Sunday came down heavily on the TDP for spreading lies on the Centre’s aid to Polavaram project. In a press conference here on Sunday, Madhav said the BJP-led government at the Centre would be providing aid to the project from the beginning but after strained relations with the BJP, the TDP government was propagating lies on it to get mileage on the issue.
Though the Central government has appointed a special officer for the project and providing aid, he said the state government was levelling baseless allegations against the BJP government to get mileage on it.
To know ground-level facts, Union minister Nitin Gadkari will visit Polavaram project site on July 11, he announced and said the Centre had granted Rs 7,000 crore so far to the project. But Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was demanding Rs 10,000 crore for the project.
How can the Chief Minister demand funds by taking decisions on the project design without consulting the Central government, the MLC questioned? In addition to it, the MLC said the Central government was providing aid to roads and educational institutions to be set up under the bifurcation act.
Stating that the Centre was also ready to provide separate railway zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters, Kadapa steel plant and Dugarajapatnam port, Madhav said TDP leaders have been launching agitation on these issues to get political mileage. BJP leaders P Venugopalam, P Tirupathi Rao, K Narayana Rao, Ch Venkateswara Rao and G Bhagyalakshmi attended the meeting.
