DSP T Prabhakar Babu cautions students against Ragging
Bhimavaram: Narsapur DSP T Prabhakar Babu has warned the students of the present strict laws relating to ragging.
He conducted an awareness session on ragging at Vishnu Institute of Technology here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the DSP explained that some laws of ragging suggest imprisonment to the guilty. As a result, the students who indulge in ragging would have to serve jail term which spoils their future and career.
The DSP urged the senior students to make friendship with juniors and instill confidence in them. Instead of ragging, they can encourage them excel in studies which was good for them and the institution.
Terming ragging as an act of cruelty, Prabhakar Babu informed the senior students that sometimes the consequences of ragging was so dangerous as the sensitive junior students might commit suicide.
He briefed the students on different laws framed to punish the perpetrators of ragging.
Two-town Circle Inspector A Chandrasekhara Rao ragging was banned in educational institutions and those who commit the crime would be dealt with sternly.
The college director and principal, D Suryanarayana informed that their institute had formed anti-ragging committee to arrest ragging on the college premises.
They had been constantly monitoring the student behavior and conducting couselling to students against ragging, he added.
