Realty buzz as Government offices shift to city
Vijayawada: The colonies in the city are witnessing new developments after the establishment of various departments’ offices by the government.
The offices were shifted from Hyderabad to the city almost two years ago while various private buildings have been converted into government offices.
As a part of it, the colonies are transforming into busy centres. New hotels and shops have come up in the respective colonies and the people of various parts of the state, especially government officials, are also living in the same colonies. The culture has been transformed in the colonies after the establishment of offices.
Over 225 offices, including directorates and commissionerates, were set up at various locations in the city and on the outskirts. Several residential apartments and individual houses have been converted into offices in the colonies due to attractive rents offered by the government. The visitors’ number to the colonies has increased abnormally.
The higher officials of these departments, including IAS officers, are residing in the same colonies and they are familiar with local people.Moreover, the security posts have been provided for various offices in the colonies.
Following the developments, several owners of private buildings started service apartments in the cities to give rooms on a rental basis.
Besides, the local people are getting employment in various forms. The hill area people of Christurajapuram got employment in nearby government offices as daily workers for various purposes. On the other hand, the house rents have gone up abnormally due to establishment of government offices.
The owners of buildings increased rents at various colonies due to increasing demand from government employees.
