Tirupati: To sensitise girls, particularly those in adolescent age about ‘good touch and bad touch’ and make them emotionally strong and help them to grow normally, Sri City Foundation and Sri City cops have jointly conducted awareness programme for the girl students of ZP High School at Irugulam village on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, DSP Vimala Kumari said that with alarming increase in child sexual abuse incidents in the society, there is need to educate children on how to differentiate between a ‘good touch and a bad touch,’ and raise awareness about sexual abuse.

Addressing the girls, She taught them how to identify the 'no touch' areas, understand who are 'safe adults' and how to clearly communicate with parents about any bad experience.

Also, she highlighted how to handle a ‘bad touch’ by shouting, running away from the person and informing a ‘safe adult’ about the same.

She said that they need not fear to anyone, and if they come across such incidents of bad touch, advised them to inform to the parents and complain to the police.

Through a power point presentation, students were given instructions on how one should react or respond in an uncomfortable situation.

Stating that it was a great initiative, the teachers said through such awareness programmes, children will be able to recognise and protect themselves against such dangers.

Similar programme was held on Wednesday at Chinmaya Vidyalaya also. About 500 students have attended the above programmes.

Manager, Sri City Foundation Surendra Kumar, Sub Inspector Subba Reddy were also present.
