AP Govt according top priority to housing for poor, says Collector
Visakhapatnam: Expressing their thanks to the state government, as many as 19,429 families entered their newly constructed houses across the district on Thursday. As part of the community house warming ceremony across the state, in Visakhapatnam district, all the beneficiaries celebrated the event as a festival. Elected panchayat presidents, mandal presidents, MLAs, ministers and officials were present at various locations on the occasion.
Collector Pravin Kumar, along with other officials and MLA of Gajuwaka Palla Srinivasa Rao, participated in house warming celebrations at New Gajuwaka area. Addressing a public meeting in the locality, the Collector said that the state government was giving top priority to provide houses to the poor in the state.
The Collector said that during the past four years, the government sanctioned as many as 52,540 houses under various schemes to the poor in the district. The construction of 27,271 houses was completed and already 7,842 beneficiaries entered their houses in October 2017. The rest of the houses would be completed by March end, he said.
The Collector said that, highest number of (2,900) houses have been sanctioned in Gajuwaka constituency only. The Gajuwaka inam land issue was also cleared and pattas already distributed to the beneficiaries, he added. MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao said that during the past four years, majority of the long pending issues were cleared.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu positively responding to clear all the long pending issues to help the people particularly the weaker sections, he added. Out of 2,900 sanctioned houses, construction of 50 per cent houses was completed and the rest of the houses would be completed in three months. The government is considering sanctioning another 6,000 houses by end of this year, the MLA said.
