Rich tributes paid to Alluri Sitarama Raju
Kakinada: Rich tributes were paid to freedom-fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju oh his 121st birth anniversary here on Wednesday.
At a programme organised at East Godavari District Police Office, Superintendent of Police Vishal Gunni and other officials paid floral tributes to the freedom-fighter who started his banner of revolt from East Godavari against the British rule.
Speaking on the occasion, SP said that Alluri fought against British Imperialism and Colonialism and for the rights of tribal population in East Godavari Agency.
Alluri who pioneered for the cause of tribals lost his life on May 7 in 1924 while fighting against the British rulers, the SP said.
Additional SP (AR) VS Prabhakara Rao, SB DSP S Murali Mohan, officers in police department participated.
