CPM wants cancellation of Agency granite leases
Vizianagaram: CPM State secretary P Madhu demanded that the government should protect the tribals from corporate companies. He visited Salur Agency area and interacted with locals of Sanyasiraju Peta. Later, he alleged that the government was working for the benefit of corporate companies and protecting their interests.
He participated in a rally and appealed to the government not to displace the tribes from their native places. Granite leases given at Tamarakonda village should be cancellation and the native tribes should be protected.
“Many tribal villages and people are depending upon the hills here and they are collecting forest products like gum, tamarind and others and earning their livelihood. But the rulers are planning to give these hills to companies. This would be inhuman and the party would fight on behalf of the poor people,” he said.
Later he visited Pedapenki village of Balijipeta mandal where the people are suffering from filaria. He inspected the drainage system in the village and flayed the government for its failure to provide underground drainage system in this village. He demanded that the government should protect the health of the local people.
Subsequently addressing the media, Madhu alleged that the TDP was protecting BJP on various issues. He wondered why the AP government should establish steel plant in Kadapa as it is the responsibility of the Centre as per the Reorganisation Act.
He said the people had realised that the deeksha conducted by TDP in Kadapa was a farce. He questioned the Centre as to how many years it would require to set up a railway zone in Vizag.
He said both the ruling TDP and Opposition YSRCP were working to protect their interests but not for public. He pointed out that the TDP government had arrested the activists of Left parties when they staged dharnas for railway zone but the same TDP was now organising dharnas on the issue.
