MLA lays stone for overhead water tank

Kakinada: Mummidivaram MLA Datla Subba Raju made it clear that people in SC colonies will soon have their own drinking water taps in their homes in his constituency. He participated as the chief guest at the foundation stone-laying for an overhead water tank and a sump to be built at a cost of Rs 90 lakh to benefit Aratikayapalem and Patti Gondi villages.

Speaking on this occasion, the MLA said that their party had launched Dalita Tejam programme to uplift the poor and to create basic amenities in the SC community habitats. He also said that once the 65-kilolitre capacity overhead tank construction completed, the entire SC community would get the clean drinking water at the Patti Gondi village. 

The MLA informed that proposals had been sent for Rs 190 crore for providing drinking water through individual taps to every door in the SC community hamlets. He said that Panchayat Raj and IT Minister Nara Lokesh’s vision was to provide clean drinking water to all SC colonies in the state. Until now, the MLA had spent Rs 6 crore in SC colonies for drinking water scheme works. 

Meanwhile, contract employees and JAC members of electricity department met the MLA and submitted a memorandum of their demands. The MLA assured them that he would take the issue to the notice of the chief minister. ZPTC member Rama Lakshmi, AMC member MG Suryanarayana, former Sarpanch Dunna Satyanarayana, Vigilance Committee Member Dhulipudi Venkata Ramana (Bobby), MPTC member Satyavathi and others participated.
