Night sanitation programme begins in city

Rajamahendravaram: Commissioner of Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) Vegesna Vijayarama Raju has said that a night sanitation programme is being implemented in the city. About 40 sanitation staff and four sanitary inspectors were entrusted the task of night sanitation. 

Speaking to ‘The Hans India,’ the Commissioner said that night sanitation was taken up mainly in business areas such as main road from Fort Gate to Syamala Theatre Centre, Gantalamma Temple Street, KVR Swamy Road, Gunduvari Street, Vankayalavari Street and other locations. It was decided to make the roads clean by the earlyhours in the morning.

Four compactors were also pressed into service. In a phased manner, night sanitation would be implemented in other parts of the city. The officials supervise the work through a Command Control Room also. He advised the managements of business establishments to keep dustbins at their shops and handover them to sanitary staff.  He appealed to the people to extend their cooperation to corporation staff to maintain cleanliness in the city.
