Cops hold awareness halt for truckers
Bhimavaram: The Bhimvaram Rural Circle Police conducted a vigilance programme for truck drivers in the circle jurisdiction on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Bhimvaram Rural Circle Inspector, Nagaraju, Sub-Inspector Ch Ramachandra Rao and police personnel went to Akiveedu post midnight, following the instructions from the District SP, M Ravi Prakash and Narsapur DSP, T Prabhakara Babu. They stopped the trucks on the national highway at Akiveedu and provided water to wash their faces. They advised the drivers to be cautious while driving during the night as any brief nap would lead to accidents.
Rural CI Nagaraju said that they have created awareness on the night driving among the truck drivers. He shared his observation that sleepy drivers are the cause for many accidents post midnight. “In recent days, several accidents occurred at Akiveedu. We conducted the vigilance programme to make people aware of this,” he added.
