The Japanese small car expert has finally revealed the much awaited 2017 Suzuki Swift and the hatchback is going to make its way to the Indian market by mid next year. The new Suzuki Swift has evolved from the current generation in terms of looks, interiors and equipment. There is quite a lot of differentiation from the present generation unlike the previous couple of generations where a lot of styling elements were retained.
On the outside, the Swift looks sporty as ever. There are many funky elements integrated in the design too. The new grille really stands out and so do the headlamps. The front bumper has a neat design and the fog lamp enclosures look cool. The side profile continues to have blackened A- and B-pillars just like the previous generations. The C-pillar also gets a blackened element which gives the car a floating roof effect.
The rear has curvy styling and overall the dimensions look nicely proportionate and even. Suzuki has plonked in sporty looking turbine alloys which up the appeal of the car. The Suzuki Swift is also offered in the RS trim which adds some sporty bits to the exteriors and interiors to make it more appealing to the youth.
On the inside, the dashboard has a neat layout with a simple design. The instrument cluster looks funky and so does the centre console. This time around, the Swift gets a flat-bottom steering wheel too. The touchscreen infotainment system will come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the same SmartPlay system as the Baleno and Vitara Brezza will be used.
On the mechanical front, expect Maruti to use the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines on the new Swift. This time around, the car will also get an automatic transmission for both the engines. Apart from that, there is also a possibility of the Swift getting the new 1.5-litre diesel engine from Suzuki.
The 2017 Maruti Swift will be launched in India in the second half of next year. The previous two generations have been very successful in our market and we can easily predict that the new one will also be received very positively by customers. The 2017 Maruti Swift will give tough competition to the Hyundai Grand i10, Ford Figo, Mahindra KUV100 and some premium hatchbacks.
