“Few vegetable vendors are getting money from the call money community for leading their life when the Union government took the decision for demonetization,” the vendors complain.


SMRB vegetable vendor T Sumathi said that the turnover has reduced from Rs 700 to Rs 300 on a daily bases due to lack of small currency notes from the public.

She added that she was getting economical support from the call money community with high interest rates to lead her family from December 8 onwards.

SMRB carotene vendor D Baskar said that most of the carotene bales were drying due to lack of sales in the market and all vendors were facing economical crisis.

“A few vendors closed their shops for reducing economical crisis in the SMRB.
SMRB estate officer M Srinivasa Sastri said that the State government would provide Point of Sale Machines to nearly 390 vendors in the SMRB to reduce the small currency notes issue and support the vendors in the market.

He mentioned that they introduced token system to public in SMRB to reduce the problem.

“State government has arranged free Wi-Fi service at SMRB for encouraging online transactions and reducing demonetisation effects, SMRB officials would give training to all vendors on POS machines to encourage online transactions.

KRM Sree Satyanarayana Swamy Kuragayala Chillara Varthaka Sangham president A Konda said that nearly 750 vegetable vendors are suffering with no sale of vegetables in KRM and SMRB in the city.

He said that Vendors burdened to run the shops with poor turnover.

Change for Rs. 2000 is problem most of them faced as well.

“Some time vendors sold their products with actual cost for balancing losses,” he added.

He opposed digital transactions in the KRM because farmers would expect money from the vendors.

“Most of the vendors are illiterates and they would face difficulties while operating POS machines at markets,” he added.

He urged Union government for releasing small currency notes in circulation to protect the vegetable vendor’s families and people.
