Cellphone Clinic near Raj Towers is a blend of history with modernity. It is a unique shop where one can find modern electronic gadgets and antique artifacts at one place. “Antiques teach you about the past and the past teaches you about the future. If you have a strong desire, you will certainly find the antique artifact you want,” says D Madhava Rao, owner of Cellphone Clinic. Explaining his love for antiques, he said, “I have an interest in collecting antique artifacts since my childhood.
I have spent all my wealth to collect the artifacts. Whenever I hear that someone has a rare collection of antiques, I will go there and see it. I will buy the antique on the spot at any cost if I like it. My hobby has gained acceptance because it has made me a good storyteller. Every antique artifact removes the haze surrounding the past. As you keep digging for information, you will certainly become a historian one day.”
Madhava Rao’s collection of artifacts includes quill pens, candles, beer mugs made of oak, gramophone, Maharani Telephone with digital number display, Ross London telescope, military phone, talking projection clock, ancient tools, knives and many other things. He has got a rare toy tarantula spider which functions when paired with a bluetooth device. People who possess smart phones can download the animal android application to move the spider from right to left and from front to back.
“My aim is to make antique products affordable to common man. If anyone wants to possess an antique product and refrained from doing so because of its exorbitant price, he can visit my shop. My affordable antique collection will certainly impress him. The prices of my antique products range from Rs 350 to Rs 10,000 or more depending on the nature of the product and its significance. Even if I sell cellphones and other electronic gadgets, I have a number of customers who visit my shop regularly to buy antique pieces,” he concluded.
