Anupam Kher says neither he nor his wife Kirron Kher, BJP candidate in Chandigarh running for Lok Sabha, were disturbed by the protests when she arrived in the city.

The actress-turned-politician was, according to reports, greeted with hostile slogans and eggs by protesters who perceived her as an “outsider”. Anupam laughed off the hype about the incident saying, “There were just maybe seven to eight protesters...a very negligible number of people. And I say, everyone has the right to protest in a democracy. Neither Kirron nor I are affected by the protest.”

“Maybe they felt that there were others more qualified for the ticket. But they must understand that if the high command thinks a particular candidate is eligible, then we must all respect that decision and not throw tantrums, like a child who has been denied a toy,” said the veteran actor.

He said it was just a small incident with no large repercussions. He also denied egg-throwing at the site of the incident. He quipped, “What about the 500 supporters who came to support and cheer Kirron at the airport? And please show me the eggs thrown at her. I'd like to make omelettes of them.”

The actor said that he glad to support his wife as she gears up to step into active politics and that he has no plans of taking the plunge into the arena yet!
