With coins of Rs.10, he had saved over a month, a Tamil Nadu man purchased a car worth Rs. 6 lakhs. The incident took place when a man named Vetrivel turned up at a vehicle dealership in Dharmapuri with what would have been a stunning coinage of 60,000 Rs. 10 coins, the employees were in for a sack full of surprises.

Vetrivel claims that his mother owns a store and has had her metal change turned down by customers on multiple occasions.

He explained that no one was willing to accept the coins. Vetrivel said in an interview that even banks aren't willing to accept the notion that there aren't enough individuals to count. He feels that the refusal of banks to accept coins is arbitrary, as no official regulation mandates that they do so.

He also raised the question that as RBI has not denied the value of coins and did not mention the coins as worthless then why banks were not accepting it.

Frustrated by people and institutions' collective disdain, he thought it was time to initiate a dialogue about the issue by purchasing a car with only Rs. 10 coins. Another reason for his alpha move, according to the man, was that the vehicle dealership in Dharmapuri was initially hesitant to make the sale, but after seeing Vetrivel's determination, they came around to accept the agreement.

He next brought sacks of Rs. 10 coins to the showroom with his family, where each penny was examined before the keys to the brand new vehicle, which seems to be a Maruti Suzuki Eeco, were given over.
