MGMNT to conduct Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on October 6 in Dallas
Dallas: Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas (MGMNT) to conduct Mahatma Gandhi 150th Jayanti celebrations on October 6th (Sunday) starting from 8 am to 11 am at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Plaza in Irving.
Speaking on the occasion, the President of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Dr. Prasad Thotakura said that Texas Governor Greg Abbott will participate in the event as the chief guest and will pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
He said that along with Governor, Irving mayor Rick Stopfer, Texas Representative Julie Johnson, Deputy Consul General of India Surendra Adhana would also attend the Jayanti celebrations.
As part of the celebrations, 15 white doves will be released as a sign of peace. On the occasion, Gandhi Peace Walk will be conducted and gave a call that everyone should participate in the walk.
He said that all are invited to the celebrations and entry of admission is free. Breakfast, T-shirts, and caps will be presented to the participants. He added that a free transport facility is arranged from North Lake College to Gandhi Memorial.
