SC postpones Aadhaar-social media linking issue to September 24

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday postponed the Aadhaar social media linkage matter regarding Facebook for September 24.

The court asked the government for its opinion on the matter and to draft intermediary guidelines. It stressed that the matter needs to be decided as early as possible. Justice Deepak Gupta also said the court might grant additional time if the union of India is going to frame something in the near future.

Previously, WhatsApp and Facebook have filed special leave petitions against the last Madras High Court order given on August 21.

The court has ordered for the listing of all applications on September 24.
