Saket Court Grants Bail To All Accused In Gargi Fest Horror
New Delhi: All the accused youth in the alleged mass molestation case relating to Gargi College cultural festival were released on bail by a Saket Court in the national capital, according to media reports. They are said to have been asked to furnish a surety of Rs. 10,000 as a condition for bail.
Legal experts point out that the accused were held under the provisions of 509 of the IPC and that they were remanded to judicial custody and not police custody. Police, however, clarified that they were actively probing the case and had constituted 11 teams to investigate the horrific incidents of alleged mass molestation.
Police say that they have identified more suspects and will take them into custody soon. The incident, which shocked the national capital, as also people elsewhere, took place on the final day of Gargi College's annual Fest 'Reverie'.
The annual cultural festival at Gargi College kicked off on 4th February and the first two days passed off without any untoward incident. It was on 6th February 2020, the last day that in spite of a strict entry process in place, the cultural festival became a scene of horrific incidents of alleged molestation and sexual harassment. A number of girls claimed that they had been groped and abused during a concert at the college fest.
