DMK president MK Stalin was counseled by the Madras high court not to make announcements related to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to the Kodanad Estate robbery case and instigate the issue on Monday.

Justice G K Ilanthiraiyan made the verbal statements while hearing a plea moved by the city public prosecutor wanting to vacate a temporary stay ordered on criminal defamation proceedings against Stalin, pending before the principal sessions' court, Chennai.

The court allowed the temporary relief to Stalin on a plea moved by him seeking to repress the defamation proceedings commenced by the prosecutor on behalf of the Chief Minister for his assumed proclamations in association with the Kodanad robbery. The state public prosecutor produced video clippings of Stalin making such statements during his election campaign, when the plea came up for hearing.

The prosecutor required the court to confine Stalin from constructing such accusations as it would disturb the trial of the robbery case pending in the Nilgiris sessions court.
