Justice P C Ghose appointed first Lokpal

Former Judge of the Supreme Court and former Chief Justice of the High Court at Hyderabad, Pinaki-Chadra Ghose has been appointed as the first Lokpal of the country.

It may be recalled that the social activist Anna Hazare had battled relentlessly for the appointment of Lokpal.

The institution of Lokpal has been vested with wide powers to investigate into the allegations of corruption in the high offices including the office of the Prime Minister.

Besides Justice Ghose, there will be four judicial members and four non-judicial Members.
