Jammu & Kashmir: Jawan, Civilian Killed In Terrorist Attack On CRPF Patrol Party
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawan and a civilian were killed on Wednesday after terrorists attacked a patrol party in Sopore of Jammu and Kashmir, the news agency ANI reported. 3 CRPF personnel were injured in the attack. Two of the injured CRPF personnel are reported to be in a critical condition. Another Jawan is said to have suffered minor injuries.
The Director-General of Police Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh told the media that the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is on.
In recent weeks, security forces have eliminated more than 40 terrorists in coordinated operations. In doing so, they have successfully thwarted the attempt of terror groups in Pakistan trying to push well trained militants into the valley, aided by the ISI and Pakistan Army.
From January 2020, security forces have neutralised more than 100 terrorists in the Valley. The DGP of Jammu and Kashmir declared on Monday that Doda District had now become terrorist free, for the first time in many years.
Vigilant security forces have eliminated a number of key terrorists including a Hizbul commander and an explosives expert and nephew of the chief of the terrorist outfit, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Masood Azhar in recent weeks.
Pakistan's attempts to up the ante after the abrogation of article 370 and the bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, have been foiled by vigilant security forces time and again over the past 11 months.
