Finding ways to prevent child pornography: Centre
New Delhi: The central government has termed pornography, especially child pornography, a serious threat to the country. The government said in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the government and police are working together to curb this. Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the trend of revenge porn has also increased in the country.
The Central Government, the state and the police are working together on the plan to prevent the spread of fake news, pornography and anti-national content through satellite media platforms.
On the other hand, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu raised concern over child pornography in the country. He hoped that the Rajya Sabha would discuss the report presented in the matter. Naidu said, "I want Parliament to discuss the report on pornography at the earliest." In December last year, Naidu formed an ad hoc committee to suggest effective action against child pornography.
Speaker Om Birla said, there has to be a serious discussion on issues related to social media.Prakash Agreeing with Om Birla and said there has to be a discussion on the issue in the House on social media misuse.
Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi wanted to know whether the government issued directions to Facebook as the first shooter at Jamia had live streamed certain things through the social media platform.
