New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has rejected the Opposition demand for verifying the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trails (VVPAT) with EVMs before counting the votes. On Tuesday, leaders from 22 Opposition parties had met the poll panel raising the demand that tallying of VVPAT slips be done prior to the counting of votes.
If any discrepancy is found anywhere in the VVPAT verification, 100 per cent counting of VVPAT slips of all polling stations of that Assembly segment should be done, the parties demanded.
