Delhi Violence: 42 Dead, 123 FIRs: Key Developments
Normalcy returned to North East Delhi on Friday after it was badly affected by riots triggered by protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Police and paramilitary forces conducted flag marches and intensified patrolling to instil confidence in all communities, as people began to return to their normal lives. Delhi Police, which has transferred the case to the crime branch, has constituted 2 Special Investigation Teams(SITs) to probe the violence.

Here are some of the key developments in the aftermath of the violence which erupted in some area of the national capital:
• The violence which rocked North East Delhi earlier in the week claimed 42 lives and has left more than 200 people injured, according to media reports.
• The Delhi police have filed 123 first information reports FIR and have arrested or detained more than 600 people.
• Delhi police have transferred the investigation to the crime branch.
• Two Special Investigation Teams (SITs), headed by DCPs will probe the violence which shook large areas of North East Delhi.
• Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams have visited several crime scenes together evidence.
• Police teams are looking for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)Councillor Tahir Hussain over his alleged role in the violence and in the brutal murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer, Ankit Sharma whose body was recovered from a drain in the ChandBagh area on Wednesday. Sharma's Family members have alleged that Tahir Hussain's men dragged the young IB staffer into the AAP leader's house and murdered him.
• Arvind Kejriwal's AAP suspended its councillor, Tahir Hussain after the Delhi Police filed an FIR are against him.
• Delhi police are yet to trace the whereabouts of the gun-toting young man, Shahrukh, who aimed a pistol at a Delhi police constable and opened several rounds of fire in the Jafrabad-Maujpur area.
