Cyclone Nisarga is set to make a landfall in Maharashtra as a severe cyclonic storm today. The storm is heading at a speed of 11 kilometer per hour and is likely to make a landfall near Alibaug in the afternoon. Once Nisarga makes landfall, it will move over north-northeastwards and cross Maharashtra and enter into Gujarat coast between Harihareshwar and Daman. The severe Nisarga cyclonic storm will bring winds of speed upto 120 Kms/Hr. The most recent serious cyclonic storm experienced by Mumbai is in 1891. And after 129 Years, Mumbai is all set to embrace Cyclone Nisarga. IMD has sounded Red Alert for north Maharastra and South Gujarat. NDMA has requested people to remain indoors during the storm.
