BENGALURU: On Thursday with a single tweet, the CLP leader Siddaramaiah had neutralised the strategy of the Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy to cause ripples in the Congress camp by painting a woeful picture of party veteran Mallikarjun M Kharge.

"HD Kumaraswamy is right. Mallikarjun Kharge can, not only be CM but is eligible for a higher level of posts. There are a lot of people in Congress and JD(S), who can become CM. Among them, HD Revanna is also one. Elaku kaala kooda barabeku (Time has to come for all these)," Siddaramaiah tweeted.

Kumaraswamy trying to clarify his statement regarding Kharge in the Congress camp had tweeted, "My statement on Kharge was made from my heart and it's not good to attribute any motive. I don't wish to derive political mileage out of the statement," he added.

According to the Congress sources, "He wanted to kill two birds with one stone. Kumaraswamy wanted to put an end to the chant by Siddaramaiah's supporters of him becoming the CM. For this, he spoke about Kharge not getting his due of becoming the CM and played the Dalit card, as none will oppose, if the proposal crops up in future."

BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, the Food and civil supplies minister, who is batting for Siddaramaiah, had said: "Everybody wants to become the CM. But in our party Rahul Gandhi is our leader at the national level and Siddaramaiah at the state level."
