24-year-old rowdy accused of murder shot and nabbed by police
BENGALURU: Late Monday night, police had opened fire at a 24-year-old notorious rowdy-sheeter who attacked a constable with a razor when a police team was trying to arrest him on TVS Road on the outskirts of Attibele, off Hosur Road.
Shashank, a resident of Banashankari which is located near the Yediyur Lake. He was part of a gang, which had recently abducted a software engineer and stabbed and robbed him in Attibele in Bangalore Rural district.
On Monday night, a police team which was headed V Balaji, who was hunting for the gangsters had received credible information about the movement of Shashank in Attibele area and put up barricades on TVS Road to nab him.
At around 11:50 PM Shashank was riding a scooter when he approached a police blockade and tried to escape, leaving his vehicle behind. As the head constable Prakash tried to catch Shashank, he pulled out a razor and attacked the police man in the shoulder. Balaji aware of the danger, opened two rounds fire in the air to warn the suspect. When Shashank did not respond well to the warning, Balaji shot him in the right leg and nabbed him. The accused and the head constable were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
VJ Sajeeth, additional superintendent of police, Bengaluru Rural had said, "Shashank is an accused in two murder cases — one in Hulimavu and another in Bannerghatta — and three robbery cases. His three associates in the Thakur robbery case are still at large and efforts are on to nab them."
