Wanaparthy: Inter-district bike theft gang busted, five held

Wanaparthy: The Wanaparthy police have arrested an inter-district bike theft gang of five members and seized as many as 29 two-wheeler vehicles, booked cases against them and sent them to remand on Saturday.

According to Wanaparthy Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) KM Kiran Kumar, the police stumbled upon this bike theft gang when they were conducting regular vehicle check near Gandhi Chowk crossroad junction on Friday afternoon. "We have arrested a five-member interstate vehicle theft gang and seized 29 two wheelers vehicles from them. Cases have been booked against all the members and they have been sent to remand," said the DSP while parading the culprits to media.

It is learnt that the police team led by Sub Inspector (SI) Venkatesh Goud and his constables who were on duty at the Gandhi Chowk junction stopped a TVS XL vehicle bearing registration number TS 32 BTR 2893 and asked for vehicle papers from them. However, when they could not provide the vehicle papers, SI and the police team got suspicious about their behavior and took them to police station for further interrogation. Upon which, they confessed their crime and revealed that they are a 5-member gang and had lifted vehicles from Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Jogulamba Gadwal, Mahabubnagar and other areas.

The gang members have been identified as Eeshwariah, Cheerla Krishnaiah, Mangya Nayak, M Deekya and MD Khadar.
