Warangal: Protests against farm laws continue

Warangal: Demanding roll back of agriculture bills, the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) members staged a protest at Ekasila Park here on Saturday. It may be mentioned here that AIKSCC is said to be an umbrella body of 207 organisations of farmers and agricultural workers.

Speaking at the protest, AIKSC State convener Vallepu Upender Reddy and CPM Urban district secretary Sarampally Vasudeva Reddy demanded the government not to force the three farm laws on farmers.

"Despite a strong opposition from various quarters, the BJP-led Central government was trying to hoodwink the farmers by implementing the farm laws. It's apparent that the farm laws were aimed at benefiting the corporate houses," Upender Reddy said. The ongoing agitation is not just to save the farmers, but it will also the people in general, he said.

The Centre was trying to project the protesting farmers as traitors, he said, accusing the Narendra Modi government of bulldozing the farmers' agitation.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi should realise that any government that bulldozes the people's agitations will not last long," Vasudeva Reddy said. He said that the Centre should introduce laws that guarantee minimum

support price to the farmers' produce.

Training guns against the State government, he criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his dual stand. "On the surface, KCR seems like he was opposing the farm laws, but he is

supporting the Modi government clandestinely," Vasudeva Reddy said. He demanded KCR to pass a resolution

in the Assembly to make

his stand clear that his government was opposing the farm laws.

AIKSCC Warangal district convener Peddarapu Ramesh, leaders of various organisations Arelli Krishna, Panasa Prasad, Gone Kumaraswamy, Mekala Ravi, Rama and Somidi Srinivas were among others present.
