Visakhapatnam: Twelve militia members have surrendered before ASP Vidhya Sagar Naidu at Chintapalli. They surrendered during People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week of the CPI Maoist party. These 12 people belong to villages of Pathrudigunta of Galikonda area, Panasalabanda, Akuluru and Ramagadda.

Speaking to the media, ASP Vidhya Sagar Naidu said that the militia members have become vexed with the barbaric acts of the Maoists such as branding people as informers and killing them based on mere speculation. The ASP further added the militia members and people in Agency were more aware of the development they missed due to the Maoist activity in their area.

Surrender of militia members from the Agency areas, particularly during PLGA week, is surely an indication of the diminishing strength of the Maoist party in Chintapalli Subdivision. It may be recalled that in the month of November, 13 militia members had surrendered in Chintapalli. Another 12 added to the list in the first week of December, taking the total to 25 in the last 30 days.

Assistant Commandant CRPF GK Veedhi Devendra Naidu, Assistant Commandant of Pedavalasa Paparao and Assistant commandant CRPF Sileru ML Naidu, among others were present.
