Sindhu calls upon youth to exercise their franchise
Vijayawada: International badminton star P V Sindhu flagged off a bike rally at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium here on Sunday to create voter awareness. The rally was continued till Benz Circle.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindhu said everyone should cast their vote which is the right given to the citizens of India by the Indian Constitution. She stated that the youth should have awareness about importance of casting their votes and through ethical voting one can elect a good leader.
Stating that she will cast her vote, she appealed to the youth to exercise their franchise without fail.Krishna District Collector and electoral officer Md Imtiaz said that the votes of youth would play an important role in the forthcoming elections. He further said that the youth should feel the responsibility and cast their votes as it will determine their future.
Sindhu took selfie at the selfie stand arranged at the 15 ft model ballot unit, and VVPAT arranged at the Benz circle. After the rally reached the Sub-Collector's office, a human chain was formed by the officials and the youth participated in the programme with Sindhu. An oath was taken to cast vote ethically.
City Police Commissioner Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, SVEEP convener and Joint Collector Dr Kritika Shukla, JC-2 P Babu Rao, Deputy Transport Commissioner E Meera Prasad, SRR & CVR College Principal Dr Velaga Joshi and others participated in the bike rally.
