Tirupati: Municipal council unanimously approves 2 SVU master plan roads

Tirupati: Deputy Mayor Bhumana Abhinay Reddy, the brain behind the master plan roads taken up by the corporation, proposing the two master plan roads linking Tirupati-Chittoor road with Zoo park road, said the two roads are must to ease traffic congestion on Alipiri road and for the convenience of scores of people visiting the hospitals including SVIMS, BIRRD, Ruia, Tata cancer hospital and Aravind eye hospital.

The Municipal Council meeting held here on Tuesday under the chair of Mayor Dr R Sirisha unanimously approved two SVU master plan roads.

After consulting with various sections of people, who opposed the master plan road, the Corporation realigned the two roads to reduce the required SV university land to the minimum, the Deputy Mayor said, informing that only two roads will be taken up and the third road proposed from GATE 3 passing through the middle of the university was dropped respecting the view of political parties, students leaders, teachers and others.

One master plan road will pass through NCC Nagar and join with Zoo Park road and another one from LPG gas godown and pass all along SV Arts college compound to link with Zoo Park road, he explained.

City MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, special invitee, lauded the Corporation for giving priority to development of roads, drains, water supply, sewage treatment on a big scale and assured his full support for Mayor and Corporators for their good works.

Commissioner D Haritha giving the details of agenda discussed and the resolutions passed in the general body meeting said various works approved by the Council.

The list of works include Rs 3.85 crore central lighting from and construction of divider from Karakambadi Road to Thimminayudu Palem and Thimminayudu Palem Road to Brindavanam Apartment, Rs 1.50 crore for laying road from Guestline hotel to Mangalam temple, Rs 1.45 crore for lighting and 40 feet BT road behind Srinivasam pilgrim complex, Rs 1.65 crore sanctioned drainage and roads in 19th Division and Shadi Mahal development Rs 85 lakh.

Sanction of Rs 1.96 crore for construction of new roads to replace damaged roads in 20th Division. Approval of Rs 1.30 crore for construction of CC roads and BT roads in place of damaged roads in 22nd division. Rs 1.16 crore for widening of road behind Sridevi complex, Rs 1.97 crore for widening of road in Bhavani Nagar next to TTD AD building, Rs 2.14 crore for purchase of double decker bus for public transport in the city.

The council approved the proposal to hand over Manchineellagunta (Narasimha Theertham) maintenance to TTD which sanctioned Rs 75 L for its development.

The council thanked CM YS Jagana Mohan Reddy for appointing city MLA Bhuamana Karunakar Reddy as TTD chairman. Later, the Corporation officials led by Mayor and Commissioner felicitated Karunakar Reddy.
