Telangana: 3 youth drown in Khammam

Three youngsters who had gone for swimming drowned in a stream here at Puligundala of Penuballi mandal of Khammam district. The three were identified as Janga Guna (24), Silam Chalapati (25), Vemireddy Sai (25).

According to the locals, a group of eight friends went to the lake on Sunday noon and five of them ventured into the water for swimmning. However, three of them drowned in the water while two persons reached the shore with the help of locals. The three youngsters are native of Kalluru village.

Villagers alerted the police who rushed to the spot and deployed expert swimmers to fish out the bodies. An investigation is underway.

On October 4, two youngsters drowned in a river at Jalpally in Hyderabad. The two died when one of them tried to rescue another who fell in the water and later both drowned. A team of disaster response force fished out the bodies.
