World Pharmacist Day celebrated at JNTU-H

JNTU: The World Pharmacist Day was celebrated by the Centre for Pharmaceutical Institute of Science and Technology (IST) of JNTU-H on Wednesday. This year the theme given by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and Pharmacy Council of India (PCD) is: 'Safe and effective medicine for all.' It emphasises the role of pharmacists in healthcare and prevention of medication errors.

The event started with a Pharma Walk at the university. The inaugural function was graced by Prof N Yadaiah, Registrar, who explained the importance of pharmacists in hospitals, society, education and community service. Dinesh Kumar, Drug Inspector, State Drug Control Administration, who was the chief guest, dwelt at length on personality development for pharmacists to boost the healthcare system.

Dr. Venkateshwar Rao, Director of IST, explained the duties of a pharmacist. Dr G Krishna Mohan, HOD, was the convener. Among those present were Prof Dr Ajitha, Dr M Sunitha Reddy, Associate Professor, faculty and students of the centre.
