Works apace to beautify famed Public Gardens

Nampally: Bagh-e-Aam, popularly known as the Public Gardens is being beautified. The Public Gardens was first used as a zoo is now a favourite spot for morning walkers and tourists. Daily walkers visit the in large numbers. Around 4,000 walkers take stroll in Public Gardens in weekends and 3000 visitors visit it every day. The Gardens was in the news recently when the Telangana government decided to spruce it up on the occasion of the Telangana Formation Day.

Continuing the beautification work is the horticulture department. A Prem Singh, Deputy Director of Horticulture, said, "We are providing saplings for free to anyone who wishes to plant inside the garden. It would be appreciated if people in the city could support us in 'each one plant one' drive every Saturday," he added.

"We are planning for flower beds in the garden to attract visitors and in no time we shall develop a Rose Garden too. Newly laid roads inside the park are providing a hurdle free walk experience to the walkers in the early hours, says P Radhakrishna, Assistant Director (Technical) of horticulture department.

People from Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Saifabad, Hydernagar, Abids and other adjoining areas visit the park for daily walk. Students spend a lot of time. A lot of visitors are seen on weekends and holidays, says Anantharam, Security Head, Public Gardens. "Nice and quiet place to visit, it is quite big, yet clean and tidy. It's a great place to spend some time in soothing environment," says Kamal, Marble Designer.

"It is an excellent place to visit in early hours. Public Gardens has one of the best walking tracks in the city," says a daily walker Priya Sharma, Chartered Accountant from Koti.
