Women Safety Margadarshak move yielding results: Cyberabad police

Gachibowli: The Cyberabad police along with Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) conducted 'Margadarshak' review and refresher programme at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate here on Thursday.

SCSC Chairman and Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar said that the Margdarshak programme helps women leaders in their empowerment to work for women safety for their organisation and act as a bridge between law enforcement and their organisation.

"Maryada Tagal' is an innovative programme. Out of 10 complaints coming, five to six are related to women. Therefore, all Margadarshaks must get more active and help more women and save more lives." He said the Cyberabad Police have introduced a shuttle bus service for women employees for their safe travel.

SCSC Secretary Krishna Yedula said Margadarshaks works on women problems. Till now more than 100 cases were resolved with the help of Cyberabad police and Margadarshaks. Out of total 292 Margadarshaks, only 30 are active, he informed and requested all others also to become more active.

The categories of the cases Margadarshaks will look after are domestic violence, domestic harassments, cheating by finance/ boyfriend, cyber offences, stalking, sexual harassment, eve teasing, depression, custody of children, ICC-related cases, voyeurism, extra- marital affairs, kidnapping, cab driver behaviour, elderly abuse, defamation, marriage through concealing impotency of husband etc.

SCSC women forum convenor and She teams DCP Anasuya said that having solved 150 cases is a good. She teams and Bharosa helping the needy women. Margadarshaks help more women to resolve their problems and save their lives and live with respect.

SCSC women forum leader Pratyusha interacted with all the attendees and answered their queries related to the training, awareness programme, volunteering, internal complaints committee (ICC), harassments at working places etc. The victims shared their experiences.
