Dharna Chowk: The CPI party state secretary, Chada Venkat Reddy, has demanded that the state government save Bhoodhan lands from land sharks. He also asked it to focus on construction of double-bedroom houses for the poor. He was speaking at a protest organised by CPI party here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Chada Venkat Reddy alleged that the real-estate businessmen and land sharks, in connivance with TRS party, had encroached thousands of acres of Bhoodan lands which were collected by Acharya Vinoba Bave through Bhoodan movement. He criticised the government for not fulfilling the promise it gave to the CPI during an all-party meeting that 125 yards of land would be given to each poor family for constructing houses.

Criticising TRS working president KTR, Venkat Reddy said that the election promise KTR made before GHMC election of providing double bedroom houses had remained unfulfilled promise. He said that the state government failed to address public issues and did not deserve to remain in power. He appealed all the parties to stage a united fight against the government in the forthcoming GHMC elections and ensure that TRS party was taught a lesson.

Among those who participated in the protest were CPI leaders ET Narsimha Chaya Devi, Sarva Srinivasan, Shankar Naik, Rakesh Singh, AITUC leaders VS Bose, Mannan, Srikanth, Harinath Goud, former minister Ravindra Naik and others.
