Telangana Realtors seek clarity on land registrations

Uppal: Demanding clarity from the State government over registration of non-agricultural properties which will resume from November 23, the Telangana Realtors Association on Tuesday cautioned that if the properties, which are not included under Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) and Building Regularization Scheme (BRS), are not taken into consideration, they would launch protests across the State.

At a meeting held in Peerzadiguda near Uppal, Naragoni Praveen Kumar, the Association State president, said that ever since the registrations were stopped the realtors were facing hardships and if the government failed to register the plots which did not have LRS or BRS, then the Association would spearhead the agitations at all 141 sub registrar offices and at landmarks such as Martyrs Memorial.

According to the association, ever since the registrations were stopped in September the realtors have been facing huge financial hardships. Some of them who completely depend on the business could not cope with the sudden adverse impact on their livelihoods. In a few cases, pressure is mounted on the businessmen immediately after the State government took the decision to suspend registrations. Customers started demanding refund of their money and the realtors had tough time convincing them.

Speaking to The Hans India, Praveen rued that many of the houses that were about to start their construction were postponed. He felt that the LRS process should have been made easy. Immediate approvals and quick and simple mechanism would have been a great relief to people. "There are more than 26 lakh people who have applied for the LRS all over the State and more than 20 lakh people who are yet to apply," he said. He asked when the government would approve of all the permissions. and questioned the purpose of collecting LRS fees. "Poor people who had inherited the land from their forefathers won't even have money to lead their lives and how can they pay LRS," he questioned.
