Teacher Recruitment Test candidates seek nod for euthanasia
Nampally: Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT) candidates met Human Rights Commission members at HRC office here on Thursday and pleaded permission for 'mercy killing' as their life has become miserable due to delay by the state PRC to give them appointment letters.
Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has short listed 8,792 candidates for TRT posts but has not given appointments even after six months, the candidates lamented before HRC members. They said that their families were facing severe distress due to delay in postings.
They requested HRC to intervene in the matter and appeal the state government to take swiftly action on appointing selected candidates at the earliest or give them permission to die as they were in dire situation. They warned the state government to issue appointment letters within 15 days or else they would hold indefinite hunger strikes.
Speaking to HRC member, Anitha, a resident of Nalagonda, said that she a daughter of a poor labourer and has qualified for TRT in 2017 and was selected for the post in October 2018. Expressing anguish at the inordinate delay, she questioned how she could answer her parents who have spent every rupee they earned for her studies and are waiting for her to join the job.
