Shaheen Nagar facing govt apathy for 30 yrs

Update: 2019-10-21 01:38 IST

Shaheen Nagar: Shaheen Nagar which comes under the Maheshwaram constituency has been ignored by local leaders and GHMC for the last 30 years.

Lack of basic amenities, dangling electric wires, diseases due to pathetic surroundings, scarcity of water, spilling sewage, sanitation problems, lack of cleanliness, piles of garbage along roadsides, sewage line problem and mosquito menace are major challenges and dilapidated condition of roads have made the lives miserable of the locals residing there.

Surrounding localities like Habeeb colony, Osman Nagar, Bismillah colony and other, reel under water crisis where residents are forced to buy bottled water else they have to consume polluted groundwater.

Shaheen Nagar covers a population of more than a Lakh and has only four government schools, which includes an upper primary school. These schools lack toilets, drinking water, power facilities, and other basic amenities.

There has been a widespread demand for more government schools and good education in the area. Currently, children are forced to attend far-off schools, enroll at private schools or simply drop out. Despite several requests and representation to authorities, the condition is going from bad to worse with each passing day.
