Hyderabad: Dr. Reddy's Laboratories on Tuesday presented scholarships to 58 students from Zilla Parishad High Schools in Hyderabad region, for the academic year 2018-2019. These scholarships are awarded to the students who completed their Secondary School Examination (SSC) with remarkable grades.

Many schools surrounding Dr. Reddy's manufacturing facilities produce top performers every year. However, most of these students discontinue their higher education due to lack of financial aid. To bridge this gap, under the School Improvement Program, the company identifies bright students every year and rewards them with the post SSC Scholarship.

Dr. Reddy's firmly believes that access to a good education is every child's right. Secondary education is the most crucial stage in the educational hierarchy as it prepares the students for higher education and the professional world. This scholarship programme is a step towards making secondary education accessible and affordable to all young students.

School principle and local leaders awarded the scholarships to the students at Zilla Parishad High School, Inturu, in the presence of school authorities. For the academic year 2018-2019, Dr. Reddy's has selected 504 students from 229 ZP High Schools from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (29 schools from Telangana and 200 Schools from Andhra Pradesh). The company has contributed Rs 54.40 lakh for this purpose.

Commenced in 2011, Dr. Reddy's School Improvement Program (SIP) aims at ensuring continuous continuous quality education to students from less privileged backgrounds.

The programme is mainly designed to help government schools in various academic and non-academic aspects such as remedial support for enhanced academic outcomes, scholarship to meritorious students, sports and co-curricular activities for overall student development and health education.

The schools are also enabled with RO water filters, solar panels, libraries and better sanitation facilities.Through this program, Dr. Reddy's has played an important role in shaping life of over 1.25 lakh students.
