Residents demand end to vexing civic issues
Rein Bazar: After the officials failed to pay heed to their repeated pleas over resolving civic issues, the residents of Rein Bazar division, with an intention to push their demands, have knocked the doors of civic bodies.
The locals of Rein Bazar division, led by social worker Abdul Rahman, have recently congregated at the offices of Zonal Commissioner (Charminar) B Srinivas Reddy, and later at HMWSSB General Manager (Div-2) P Nagender Kumar in large numbers. They also gave representation on the pending civic issues in their areas and had a long discussion on the problems faced by them every day in their locality.
The locals raised their voices about the major pending works in the area, which included laying of new pipelines, repairing of the damage roads, desilting of nala and covering of manholes, maintenance of playgrounds and graveyard boundary walls.
"Due to the damage and decaying of old pipeline, drain overflow and water stagnation remained major problems in the area. On the other hand, whenever it rains heavily, many roads overflow with water. Hence, we have requested the zonal commissioner to repair the roads. Due to the laxity shown by the authorities in desilting of nala, the drain overflow became a persistent problem," Rahman said.
The residents requested the GHMC official to sanction the budget from the general budget for the pending works. After listening to the grievances, the zonal commissioner gave an assurance that the budget would be sanctioned and all the pending works would be started at the earliest.
HMWSSB GM assures permanent fix
During the meeting with the HMWSSB General Manager, the residents requested him for the laying of new water pipeline in Sadat Nagar area. "We are receiving contaminated water from the past 3 years.
It should be replaced, as the existing pipelines are around 30 years old," they said. The residents also brought to the notice of official the water stagnation in Madina Nagar near Dhobighat. They pressed for laying of new SW drain pipeline for resolving the matter once for all, rather than finding temporary solutions.
Giving an assurance, the GM said that the drinking water pipeline works would be sanctioned within 15 days. In the presence of residents, he also made an estimate and forwarded it to the authorities concerned and assured that the works would be started soon. On the issue of water stagnation in Madina Nagar, he said that a temporary diversion will be replaced by the new SW drain pipelines area, which connects the nala by next monsoon.
