Poultry farmers allege foul play by federation
Basheerbagh: Demanding an investigation into irregularities committed in Telangana Poultry Federation, poultry farmers staged protest before National Egg Coordination Committee and Telangana Poultry Federation office here on Monday.
The protesting farmers said that Telangana government provided 6 lakh tonnes of corn feed, purchased through Markfed, to poultry farmers, but the feed did not reach poultry farmers. Farmers alleged that the president of the federation Errabelli Pradeep Rao and secretary Mohan Reddy had sold the feed to private and corporate businessmen illegally.
They said that the federation officials indulged in the scam worth crores of rupees and demanded a thorough investigation into the scam. The farmers accused the president and secretary of embezzling Rs 4.5 crore collected from them for construction of federation building. They demanded a CBI enquiry against the federation leaders.
Federation vice president Jakkam Ram Reddy assured the farmers that the issue has come to their notice. He said that the irregularities would be investigated and those involved in it would be suspended from their posts. He promised to provide the corn feed to all the poultry farmers.
Poultry farmers V Balakrishna Reddy, M Anji Reddy, V Abhishek Reddy, G Venkat Reddy, Jaganmohan Reddy, Muralidhar Reddy, Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Ranga Reddy and others participated in the protest.
