It has power to not only influence humans, but also enhance their lives, he said. Poets should have clear understanding about contemporary society they are living in and respond in a way that acts as driving force and influence their thoughts on various issues of the society, he said. Poetry should connect past with the present and serve as a guide to the future generations, he said.

Poets should take up the responsibility of inspiring the society and their poetry should reflect the values of the entire system or society rather than being limited to a particular person or organization.

Apart from propagating their ideology creatively, poets should ensure that their poetry reflects reality, he said. Explaining different roles that poetry can take up in different circumstances, he said poetry should entertain when people are leading happy and peaceful lives, raise patriotism during war times and instill courage among people when anarchy reins.
