Pesky issues plague Secunderabad Cantonment Board areas
Secunderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB), one of the largest cantonments in India with four lakh population, lacks basic civic amenities. The roads are in bad condition, no proper bus stops and also, road closures are the issue plaguing the residents.
The road conditions in the SCB are in worst condition with full of potholes, which are commonly found in areas like Trimulgherry, West Marredpally, Lal Bazaar, Bolaram, Old Bowenpally and Karkhana. Apart from this, road are closed by the military establishment in various areas in Cantonment area.
A wall is constructed to restrict residents moving freely in the area. The commuters are forced to take long routes to reach their destination. The road that is permanently closed is at Lakdawala Gate. There are no bus shelters in the various areas that include Trimulgherry, Bowenpally, and Lal Bazar. This is forcing people to wait for the bus under the hot sun.
For the past two years, no action was taken to lay a new road by the SCB officials and whenever we complain they say that they would do but till today no action is taken", said Janardhan, a resident of Trimulgherry.
"As Lakdawala Gate road is being used by the students of Valerian Grammar School, we are forced to take the long route," said Venkata Ramana, a resident of Malani Enclave.
"This is an everyday issue for us. As there is no proper bus stand and no signboard, the buses do not stop here and some buses halt meters away and we have to run behind the buses," said Surendar, a resident of Bowenpally.
