Pay minimum wages, demands Professor Kodandaram

Dharna Chowk: Founder president of Telangana Jana Samithi party Professor Kodandaram demanded that the state government implement minimum wages in the state. He was speaking at the protest organised by AITUC for the resolution of contract and outsourced employees working in manning operations maintenance of HMWSSB.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Kodandaram said the state government should provide minimum wages to regular as well as contract employees, as directed by the Supreme Court in the past. He questioned the government how an employee working in the city can sustain with low salaries and demanded that the government to pay the minimum salary of Rs 25,000 per month to such employees.

He extended his party support to the protesting employees for the resolution of their issues. State general secretary of AITUC Bose warned the state government of starting a movement with the support of various labour organisations and political parties if the just demands of protesting employees were not met at the earliest.

Among those who participated in the protest were AITUC state leaders Palla Devender Reddy, water board general secretary Santosh, Srikanth and a large numbers of employees.
