Darussalam: Charminar MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, Bahadurpura MLA Moazam Khan and MLC Mirza Riyaz-ul-Hassan Effendi held a meeting over deteriorating condition of sanitation with Charminar Zonal Commissioner B Srinivas Reddy and other GHMC officers at AIMIM party headquarters in Darussalam on Monday.

During meeting they discussed about resolving the sanitation problem in Old City, as several complaints were being received by public representatives for the past fortnight. Complainants asked as to why the GHMC was not lifting garbage in their areas, which was impacting entire health condition of the localities, some of which were already reeling under the mosquito menace.

Speaking to media persons, Mumtaz Khan said that due to the poor sanitation and piling up of garbage in Old City, many locals were facing problems and also attracting seasonal diseases.

"On Sunday, a kid died due to dengue in Talabkatta. In past 8 days 3 children died due to the dengue in same area," he added. They also instructed the AMOH and other officials to clean the garbage not only in their areas but also ensure entire South Zone remained clean. Later, officers ensured that the garbage would be cleaned within two days.

Later during the day, the Zonal Commissioner held meeting with Deputy Commissioners, Health, Transport, Sanitation staff and discussed with them about the Circle level sanitation plan under Charminar Zone at his office. He asked the officials to streamline the mechanism to ensure that garbage does not get piled up in the areas from where the GHMC was receiving complaints.
