MANUU students should spread message of love
Jubilee Hills: Places of learning shall shun bigotry and narrow mindedness and promote tolerance and liberal thinking. An atmosphere of increasing hatred and suspicion is a challenge for Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). It shall prepare a caravan of love to spread the message of tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, the Vice-Chancellor, said this while welcoming the newly admitted students to the campus on Thursday. He advised them to focus on all-round development of personality during their stint at MANUU. Dr Parvaiz inaugurated a 6-day Students Induction Programme (SIP) being organised by the office of dean, student's welfare. He cautioned against unbridled freedom without a sense of responsibility.
The university gives preference to madarsa passouts and students from Urdu medium for admissions. Dr Parvaiz quoted extensively from the Holy Quran to drive home his point. He described the Quran as the perfect manual for all-round personality development.
He advised the students to be polite and flexible to facilitate learning process. Students should be proactive in achieving their goals, he said. On the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor introduced various facilities and centres of the university through a Powerpoint presentation.
Prof Syed Alim Ashraf, Dean, Student's Welfare, provided the details of the SIP. Anis Ahsan Azmi, Chief Consultant, Centre for Urdu Culture Studies, welcomed the gathering.A
