Man stuck in Zambia returns to India
Chanchalguda: Ganti Chanti Babu who was stranded in Zambia and was allegedly tortured by his employers, was rescued following intervention from Indian authorities. MBT leader Amjedullah Khan who came to know of his plight keenly pursued the case for his freedom.
Chanti Babu, a resident of West Godavari, was stuck in Zambia and was allegedly tortured. He was sent as an operator of Truck Mounted hydraulically Core Drill Rig earlier this year, but was asked to repair machines which he was not familiar with. His wife met with MBT spokesperson Amjedullah Khan in in October and sought his help to rescue her husband from Zambia.
Later, Amjedullah Khan tweeted the matter to Union Minister for External Affairs, Dr Subramanian Jaishanker, and Indian High Commission in Republic of Zambia and requested them to rescue Babu as soon as possible.
After his rescue, Babu called on Amjedullah Khan on Thursday to express his gratitude for taking up his case with the Union Ministry of External Affairs and Indian High Commission in Zambia.
