Chanchalguda: Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) on Tuesday demanded a 'judicial inquiry' into the alleged suspicious death of UP trader in Warangal on April 27.

According to MBT spokesman Amjedullah Khan, Mohammed Abdul Manan (35) from Nawla in Muzaffarnagar District in UP, along with four of his friends, was living in a rented house and used to sell clothes on the streets of Warangal.

On April 27, when all five left their room in morning to do business as usual, they were picked up by Warangal police at Hasanparthy and were taken to an unknown location. "Their belongings were checked, they were asked to show their Aadhar Cards and other identity cards. However, the policemen used filthy language and tortured them," he alleged.

Meanwhile, another team searched their room and inquired from neighbours about their credentials. "They were denied food and water for 5 hours. Meanwhile, interrogation was going, Mohammed Abdul Manan complained of uneasiness and chest pain and requested the police interrogating him to take him to some hospital, but the police didn't listen. Manan got severe heart attack in the police custody and his friends took him in an auto to Government Hospital in Warangal, where he was declared dead," said Amjed.

MBT leader alleged that Warangal police tried to hush-up the issue and threatened his friends not reveal the issue to anyone. However, the issue went viral on social media and community elders gathered at the hospital and began agitation demanding an inquiry.

Amjedullah Khan also spoke to the senior police officials and demanded impartial inquiry. A delegation of traders from UP doing business in and around Hyderabad also met him and spoke about the suspicious death of Manan.

Khan demanded that the case should be inquired by a sitting High Court and that action must be initiated against police officers. He also demanded that the state government to pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of the deceased.
